Dear IRCAM Forum members,

We are looking forward to sharing with you the next technological innovations and meetings, first of all in Seoul with the Forum Workshops Hors-les-Murs, the programme will be online soon.

The Workshops in Paris from March 26 to 28,  2025 at IRCAM will be just as jam-packed as last March. The call for contributions is open until October 15 and EARLY price registration is open until October 10.

And we've got a special treat in store: the new Studio Session Forum!

See you soon,

The IRCAM Forum team

Technologies

New software releases: Partiels, ASAP and Circe.

Partiels 2.0.4 adds OSC support! In addition, three new analysis plugins based on third-party technologies are available: Whisper is an implementation of the neuronal speech recognition model developed by OpenAI, Basic Pitch is based on the automatic music transcription library developed by Spotify's Audio Intelligence Lab, and Crepe enables pitch detection using a deep convolutional neural network.

Discover the new version 1.3.0 of ASAP! The ARA plug-ins are now available in the form of standalone applications, enabling processing to be used as external editors in Live or ProTools: ARA2 support is no longer required. The long-awaited logarithmic frequency representation mode and a bypass option on each region (to switch between the original sound and the transformed sound) have arrived. The Spectral Surface plug-in has been renamed Psycho Filter and calculates the sonogram resulting from the application of filters on the fly.

A brand new version 1.0.0 of Circe is available in the form of VST3 plugins, AudioUnit and a standalone application for MacOS (M series only), Windows and Linux.

Circe allows you to modify the pitch and tension of the voice, and also to create a hybrid timbre between the original track and the one defined as the side-chain.

Dicy2, call to users

More and more of you around the world are using Dicy2 for composition and sound design! Discovering new projects and new ways of creating with Dicy2 is always interesting and opens up the boundaries of what's possible far beyond IRCAM's doors. So share your Dicy2 projects and events on the dedicated discussion forums and don't hesitate to make any comments or suggestions here.

Dicy2 is both a package for Max and a plugin for Ableton Live that implements interactive agents using machine learning to generate musical sequences that can be integrated into musical situations ranging from the production of structured material in a composition process to the design of autonomous agents for improvised interaction.

We strongly encourage projects using Dicy2 to submit to our call for contributions for the Forum Workshops 2025!
