Dear
The transport sector comes in at top spot on the list of CO2 emitters, with around 37% of total of annual global emissions from end-use sectors. Something needs to be and some people are doing it.
What comes next and at what pace is critical to our achieving a reversal in emissions to reach net-zero by 2030. Our strategy needs to be one based on “Avoid, Shift, Improve - to encourage modal shifts to the least carbon-intensive travel options, and operational and technical energy efficiency measures to reduce the carbon intensity of all transport modes. ” source IEA
In our day dedicated to Sustainable Transport we will hear from a number of highly innovative actors, some already well known on the global stage, who are at the forefront of developing the technologies of the future to generate transport fuels for road, air and sea from otherwise under-utilized or wasted, non-recylable feedstocks.
Whether at the demonstration or fully commercial stage, we will learn about pathways such as gasification - syngas cleaning - e-methanol for blending or shipping, gasification - gas fermentation - SAFs, bioLNG (biomethane liquefaction) for road haulage and shipping, pyrolysis - biooil - liquid fuels for road, shipping or air transport … take part and take heart for the future !
