Towards innovative mosquito control in the Camargue by means of mosquito traps

Camargue Salt Works Lagoons and Marshes: fish returning between the Mediterranean and the Vaccarès lagoon

The Camargue Salt Works Lagoons and Marshes, which have been in the process of rapid renaturation for several years, now provide a new connection between the sea and the inland lagoons that is favourable to fish. 

 

Success of the South-East France inter-regional bird ringers' meeting 

 

The annual inter-regional meeting of the bird ringers of South-East France was held on Saturday March 4th at the Tour du Valat, attended by about 40 people representing the various organisations of the Rhône-Alpes-Auvergne, PACA and Languedoc-Roussillon regions that are involved in bird ringing programmes.  

 

Voluntary work at the Tour du Valat, mutually enriching!

The development of voluntary work provides the Tour du Valat with an excellent opportunity to address young Europeans and to get them committed, in France and other Mediterranean countries, to wetland conservation issues. 

 

The children of the Camargue in search of spoonbills

In charge of an ambitious Eurasian Spoonbill monitoring program in the Camargue for many years, the Tour du Valat now also commits the children of the Sambuc hamlet to conserving their natural heritage. 

 

Setting up of the first artificial Osprey nest on the French Mediterranean coast

The Tour du Valat and its partners have just set up in the Camargue an artificial nest at the edge of the Rhone river in order to help the return of the species and the reconnection between the Spanish, Italian and Corsican populations of the species. A first on the French Mediterranean coast!

 

VINCI Autoroutes become a sponsor of the Mediterranean Lagoons Transfer Unit 

 

The Tour du Valat and Vinci Autoroutes have just signed a 3-year partneship agreement, by which the company sponsors the Mediterranean Lagoons Transfert Unit.

 

Migrateurs Rhône-Méditerranée and the Tour du Valat strengthen their partnership

The Tour du Valat has been working together with the association Migrateurs Rhône-Méditerranée for many years, in particular for the study and management of European Eel populations. In 2016, with a view to strengthening this collaboration and emphasising its importance, a framework agreement was formalised.

Fish in lagoons, what state of knowledge for which management system?

On March 14th, 2017, the Mediterranean Lagoons Transfer Unit organised a workday in Lattes (Hérault) on the theme “Fish in lagoons, what state of knowledge for which management system?"

 

 

Active participation active by the Tour du Valat at the 8th International Waterbirds and Wetlands Workdays in Morocco

The Eighth International Workdays on “Waterbirds and Wetlands” were held in Khenifra, Morocco, on May 19th and 20th. These days enabled convivial and informative exchanges between researchers, students and technicians form various North African countries.
